In-Class Prompt #3

Last Thursday we watched How I Met Your Mother in class.  The episode was one that flashed back and forward where the guys talked talked about where they would be in three years.  As the flash backs got more current, their future plans changed a lot.  The only things that stayed consistent throughout the flashbacks are Ted and Marshall's jobs, their trilogy nights, and the fact that they are all close.  Between the previous discussions and the one that happened in 2012,  Barney's plans had changed.  Instead of him just having a new woman everytime, he realizes he is ready to settle down and get married.  This being a huge realization for him, he runs home, apologizes to his girlfriend, and shows that he is ready for a committed relationship by breaking his mugs (the thing that started the argument between them).  I've never noticed before, but sitcoms seem to have some subtle theme that people never notice unless they really watch for it.  The lesson here I think is people change no matter what, but if you and your friends are close enough, they will always be there for you.
